It may seem odd that a baby would need an adjustment, however, the birthing process is extremely stressful on the body. Studies have shown that there is as much as 50 – 60 lbs of axial load put on a baby’s head and neck during a “normal” birth. This amount of stress can lead to a subluxation (misalignment) of the little bones in the baby’s neck and back causing nerve irritation. This nerve irritation can then cause many of the common symptoms that we take our babies to a pediatrician for.
- Spitting up/ reflux
- Sleeping issues
- Poor latching while feeding
- Chiropractic Adjustment- this looks much different than an adult adjustment. Different techniques and pressure are used for infants and little ones.
- Possible diet and lifestyle recommendations for both mom and baby to avoid the need for more medications.
- Correcting these problems now will help the downward spiral of minor conditions leading to more severe conditions down the road.
